Ann Romney Makes My Point

Ann Romney:

“…we’ve given all you people need to know.”

“You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he’s been financially. He’s a very generous person. We give 10 percent of our income to our church every year. Do you think that is the kind of person that is trying to hide things, or do things? No. He is so good about it. Then, when he was governor of Massachusetts, didn’t take a salary in the four years.”

First, the salary for the Governor of Massachusetts is somewhere in the vicinity of $135,000. Slightly less than twice what Mitt deducts for the care of his wife’s horses, and substantially less than Mitt earns in interest on his Swiss bank account. Good politics, but financially insignificant. And if you needed any further proof of how far removed Mitt Romney is from the vast majority of American citizens, there it is: “We’re so fucking rich, we can simply refuse to take $135,000 paltry dollars in salary. We don’t need it.”

Second, since when is meeting the requisite demands of your cocked up theology – that you tithe 10% to the LDS – proof of your virtue? Not to mention that it’s yet another deduction! They help fund the evil political shit the Mormon church gets up to [1] [2] [3] [4], deduct it from their taxes, and then fucking BRAG about it!

Meanwhile, stop asking questions about why they have vast sums of money parked in blatantly obvious tax havens; why they have companies designed to avoid taxes; why the phony blind trust Mitt claims to have set up fails to meet even the most minimal requirements for BLIND; why he’s either lying to the American people about when he relinquished the reins at Bain Capital or committed perjury in documents filed with the SEC. Why, despite even the calls from heavyweight Republicans to meet the standard set by his own father AND President Barack Obama, the Romneys continue to insist that “You people” have been told all we need to know about their highly secretive financial dealings.

Do I think Mormons hide things? Well, the first time they were caught baptizing dead Jews, they promised they would never do it again. The second time they were caught, they apologized and promised to stop it. The THIRD fucking time they were caught, they swore they would never do it again. Are they still doing it? Those magic underwear assholes can’t wait til Elie Wiesel dies. He’s on the list.

Do I think Mitt Romney lies? Do you want the list alphabetically or chronologically? That Mitt Romney is a craven, perhaps pathological liar is beyond question.

There is something deeply ugly and wrong with these people.

  1. If you haven’t read “Under the Banner of Heaven”, you should. Great book.

  2. OMG, you were so missed. I’m glad to see you back.

Although I don’t count myself among those that think this race is as close as the media is portraying it, it’s frightening that a person like Mitt Romney can even get this far in the process of running for president and somehow he is not being run out on a rail.

    • In fairness, it’s not that hard to beat the Insane Assclown Posse he went up against in the Republican race, especially when you’ve got much more money than all of them combined.

Romney getting where he is more of a comment on the quality of the “choices” the system offers voters than anything else.

  3. Neverminding his politics, a mormon in the White House terrifies me more than anything. I’m sorry, they’re all nutjobs. Thank-fuck their obsession with baptising deceased non-mormons has about as much real consequence as their present influence on the world stage, next to none, yet any more would be sick.

  5. Heavens, so good to see you back, my bookmark was growing cob-webs from lack of use. You fire me up.
…as to how he got this far? It seems to me that americans will never fail to vote against their own best interests. With few exceptions (2008 for one) we will always vote the good guys out. We will elect the liar, the thief, the bigot, the homophobes, then re-elect them and wonder why we are spiraling into oblivion, on our way to being a third rate has been country. I’m sorry to be so negative.

    • Remember Bruce, only about 50% of eligible voters even bother to vote for President, never mind for the races lower down on the ballot, which are, in many ways, even more important.

These non-voters don’t even so much as TRY to vote in their best interests.
