And I Saw A Pale Horse…

There’s something wrong here:

ATHERTON, Calif. — A California school teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after he rattled a table to get the attention of his math students, startling an eighth-grade girl who used her cell phone to call police.

Atherton police Sgt. Tim Lynch tells the Palo Alto Daily News that officers went to Selby Lane School Tuesday afternoon because of reports a teacher was causing a disturbance.

Officers found a calm teacher with class in session.
The sergeant says the teacher’s table-rattling startled a student and she used her cell phone to call 911.
He says other students in the class weren’t bothered by the teacher’s actions.

Redwood City School District deputy superintendent John Baker says the teacher was placed on leave because there was a police response.

Excellent. Now any snotty little misbehaving bastard can have any teacher suspended by calling the cops to say that their equilibrium was disturbed. That’s a fine fucking lesson to impart to the kids.

  1. One more reason children should be prevented from having cell phones in class. (or anywhere for that matter)

  2. Sedate Me beat me to it. ffs. children with damned fucking phones. how did we ever survive.

    • How did we survive? We:

      – paid attention to the class.

      – used our imagination (Anybody remember those things?) to transport us somewhere else.

      – instead of instantly communicating every useless thought our puny little brains came up with like kids do today, we “triaged” our thoughts and remembered what was valuable until we had the chance to share it a meaningful, face-to-face, way.

  3. I have a cell phone in class. But the thing is I turn it OFF!
