Sean Hannity is a Pandering Cock

It’s not like Fox News, despite their apparent popularity with poorly educated racists and other mouth breathers, has ever been a source of news (by which I mean an unbiased presentation of facts subjected to checking and reasonable analysis). Instead, the network traffics in lies, damn lies, and sheer spittle flecked insanity. Sadly it sells.
Sean Hannity, a constant turd of weak reason and extreme, poorly informed opinion, apparently has a problem with atheists – namely The Secular Coalition for America – meeting with the White House for a briefing.
Hannity has on numerous occasions stumped for god claims…well, for Jesus claims at least. He has demonstrated on at least that many occasions a stunning degree of ignorance and intolerance for other faith claims, particularly Muslims. He ignorantly spouts falsehoods, including the certainly debunked claims that Albert Einstein believed in a creator / god (certainly untrue), and that atheists believe the universe came from nothing (absolutely untrue), while holding out those who express faith in a magical sky wizard as being somehow better, saner and more respectable.
Well, fair enough. If Sean Hannity wants to dismiss and degrade a fairly large and growing segment of the American population (one which includes many of the best educated minds in the country), that’s his prerogative. But it’s NOT his job. His job is to get the facts right. Hannity is entitled to his opinion, but he’s not entitled to his own set of facts.

Hannity: The Obama administration earlier today rolled out the red carpet for a coalition of atheist groups. Now, among the individuals in attendance was Michael Newdow. That’s the California man who sued unsuccessfully to have the words “under God” removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. Now, religious groups, however, have not received this kind of treatment from the Obama White House. Now, last year, the President distanced himself from the National Day of Prayer, canceling the formal service traditionally held in honor of the day and refusing to attend a Catholic prayer breakfast. So what’s going on? Has the administration demonstrated a pattern of hostility towards religion, or is this merely a coincidence?

First, there was no red carpet, but let’s call that one metaphor.

Second, Michael Newdow was not present.

As for removing the words “under god” from the Pledge of Allegiance, anyone with a passing familiarity with history knows the pledge was written in 1892. The words “under god” were not formally added until 1954 following a large push from the rather dishonorable gang of Jesus freaks The Knights of Columbus, among other ass kissing ne’er do wells.
Hannity loves to make the argument that America was founded by believers in Jesus as a Christian nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nor does the constitutional offense of demanding that those who do not believe in a magical sky wizard, in order to demonstrate loyalty to country, accept the fantasy by reciting the pledge as amended.

In any case, Hannity never lets facts get in the way of riling up his stunted audience by twisting every event into another attack on the current administration. He not only gets the facts wrong, or (more likely) intentionally ignores the truth, but makes it sound like the White House is snubbing believers in favour of courting humanists.
Hannity fails to explain how that jives with having the disgusting James Dobson praying at the inauguration of the president; the meeting between Obama and “…leaders from several denominations including Evangelical, Catholic and Protestant members of the faith community”; the meeting with various Jewish leaders and groups about the state of US-Israeli relations; meeting with the Dalai Lama.

No, as far as Sean Hannity – a poorly informed, poorly educated, yammering, prevaricating, blithering gasbag who hates all things Obama – is concerned, simply meeting with people who realize that there’s no evidence for any of the many contradictory god claims is proof that Obama is out to destroy America.

I don’t think Sean Hannity is a believer. I think he claims to be because he understands the depth and breadth of ignorance that infects his audience, and that claiming to share their blind allegiance to a book of fables written by Bronze Age sheep herders serves his ratings and therefore his back account. I have no evidence for this claim beyond the fact that Sean Hannity is demonstrably prepared to lie about everything else, so why should anyone believe him when he claims to follow his lord and saviour?

Sean Hannity is a lying, pandering cock.

  1. Thankfully, I’m barely familiar with Hannity beyond name recognition and Daily Show clips…and I’m sure my life is much better off for it.

You’re right, Cousinavi. A lot of these turds couldn’t care less about Jesus. They just want the public to know they’re on Jesus’ side, so the audience is more likely to swallow their bullshit.

Once again, Mr Broken Record here must point out that News Channels are no longer in the business of doing news. for the most part, they are entertainers who get paid to attract and entertain certain audiences. Truth, facts and reality is less important than drawing a target demographic or an extra ratings point.

That’s what Hannity, Beck, Palin etc are there for and they’ll say whatever it takes to please the audience and their paymasters.
