  1. Hitchens and Dawkins are reasonable men who have decided to devote their lives to hating their heavenly father. They would kill theists if it weren’t for the maudlin shamble of a morality system they constructed for themselves. Were they courageous enough to carry through with their hatred toward Christians, they would actually have a life-altering encounter with the living God. But their not real men, just cowardly little rodents drumming up support for their unoriginal thoughts and peddling their little tracts. How are they that much different from evangelical church people they oppose, really?

  2. @ Joy
Hypocritical straw man arguments about what they would do but for their “maudlin shamble of a morality system” won’t get you far around here, especially given the actions of you and yours with your divine system of morals.
How are they different from evangelicals? That’s easy – they’re not lying. TRUTH, for all your efforts to ignore it, counts for something. In fact, it counts for everything. Blindly gobbling some ridiculous fairy tale about an imaginary sky wizard is fine, until you arrogantly sit in judgment of those who simply wish you would leave them alone. Stop frightening children, trying to ruin proper scientific education, and inflicting your silly theistic madness on others and you can go about your business.
They do not hate “the heavenly father” – that’s absurd. How can one hate something that does not exist?
They have little patience for idiots who claim to KNOW about such things, and construct on that supposedly divinely revealed bit of bullshit a system of torture and reward designed to repress, control and frighten people into granting power to greedy, perverse fools and madmen.
    How stubborn is your ignorance.

  3. Also well worth watching are the clips of Hitch in the aftermath of the death of Falwell. He comes off a bit boorish in the Hannity and Colmes bit, but he doesn’t bow to Hannity or the execrable Ralph Reed.

And Joy – I wouldn’t ordinarily engage someone like you, but if I read you correctly, .one is either “courageous enough” to kill those with whom they disagree, or “their not real men [sic]”? Sounds like your heavenly father has left unbelievers with a dearth of options.

  4. God is strictly an either/or situation. Besides, you know what happens when you have too many options. Filet O’ Fish or McRib? Whopper or Whopper Junior? Fries or rings? Lube or no lube?

  5. Cousin,

The blog of our our brother, Bob Cesca, is slowly being taken over by The Jesus People. I was persecuted just today for calling Dennis Miller a “prick,” and others in our flock have been counseled by the invading Jesusers to turn the other cheek. One of them even suggested that Obama should ask bin Laden to serve as Secy. of Homeland Security as a sign of forgiveness.

Well, I may be exaggerating a bit about the bin Laden as Secy. of HS shit, but those Jesusers are like a swarm of fucking termites who just polished off one house and are now eyeballing my crib.

    SOS

  6. @ cactusgal
Whatever happened to William Ayers? Don’t these guys know that there can only be one Secretary of Homeland Security at a time?

  7. Sharon

These Jesusers follow a very strict policy regarding forgiveness and acceptance. The one I’m having the most run-ins with keeps accusing me of being too hard on the likes of Lieberman, Dennis Miller, Hillary, etc., etc., but then turns around and says she THINKS she MIGHT HAVE voted against Prop. 8 even though her religion forbids acts of homosexuality and defines marriage as between a man and a woman.

Several others have imbued Obama with Christ-like attributes, having somehow forgotten that the man is a brilliant politician and a crackerjack lawyer who can kick ass with the best of them.

I have no idea what they think of Ayers, but thanks for bringing up his name as a candidate for Secy. of HS. Like my master, Satan, I do enjoy tormenting the Jesusers with that kind of shit.

  8. Cactus:

While it might well be supposed that anyone who carries a law degree from Harvard and was Ed. of the Review is a “kickass” lawyer, Obama never really spent much time in the practice of law with a few exceptions tied to his community organizing efforts and ACORN. He’s clearly a smart mofo, but I wouldn’t go so far as to make him out like some cross between Johnny Cochrane, Alan Dershowitz and Perry Mason.

Re: Sec. State – anyone but Hillary suits me fine.

  10. Cousin,

I didn’t think I was “making him out like some cross between Johnny Cochrane, Alan Dershowitz and Perry Mason,” but it’s your blog, Man.

If you overlook my referring to Obama as a “kick ass lawyer,” I’ll overlook you referring to him as a “motherfucker.” I suspect there’s more truth in my reference than in yours, but as somebody once said, “Truth Conquers Nothing.”

  11. cactusgal,
These “Jesusers”, as you call them, sound like a very conflicting bunch. I’d be interested in their takes on Rev. Wright.

  12. “Re: Sec. State – anyone but Hillary suits me fine.”

CNN certainly is one of the main cheerleaders to make Hillary Secretary of State. If she was ever positioned, they would probably cover her more than Obama.

  13. Sharon, there has been some comment among the Jesusers about Wright, and I’d say the consensus is that he’s way too angry for their tastes. They believe that St. Obama wants the lion to lie down with the lamb, and if the lamb is kind of nervous about the whole thing, well then screw the lamb–it’s ignoring the teachings of St. O.

I have to keep my distance because I’m the kind of person who would feed the Jesusers to the lion and serve the lamb up with mint sauce.

What we have there is a failure to communicate.

  14. HAH! This is so cool. Chick’s talking politics and religion.

  15. cactusgal,
These people should have seen Wright when he was on Bill Moyers. They should also read the so-called Old Testament more carefully.

  16. Sharon:

It’s not the “so-called Old Testament” (or, for that matter, the so-called Torah)…
It IS the Old Testament. AKA The Torah, the Pentateuch, the Five Books of Moses…
There’s no more need to tag it with “so-called” than there is to say, for example, the “so-called Roget’s Thesaurus”.
There’s plenty enough reason to be dismissive of theists and their nonsense without dragging the attack down to that sort of sarcastic level.

  17. WADR, I am not trying to be sarcastic. The real attack is from Christians adding the “Old” to what is originally not suppose to be. An example would be a book from a split from the Mormon Religion entitled “The Real Book of Mormon”.

It is not as though I always address the “Old Testament” with a caveat. I wanted to add that extra point since too many Christians seem to forget about the God in the Old Testament.

  18. Sharon wasn’t being sarcastic, and even if she was, what the hell difference does it make? She was talking to me, not the Jesusers.

There’s plenty enough reason to be dismissive of sarcasm without dragging the attack down to the level of a chick fight.

  19. That’s not dragging it down. Who doesn’t love chick fights?

  20. I prefer cock fights myself, as long as they’re in the Heavyweights Division.

(No sarcasm intended unless your dick is tiny, in which case I’m actually being dismissive.)

  21. CG: The gay marriage thread is here.
