ABORT Sarah Palin!

Sarah Palin knows the difference between an unrepentant domestic terrorist (anyone Barack Obama knows) and all those other murderous bombers (defenders of unborn babies).  Frankly, she’s getting a little tired of having to point out the obvious difference to these dumb journalists.

Question:  Is an abortion clinic bomber a terrorist under this definition?

Palin, unable to mask that she finds the question annoying, lets out an obviously exasperated sigh.
Just watch the look on her face as she sputters through some very revealing nonsense.

According to Caribou Barbie, Bill Ayers “sought to destroy the US Capitol and the Pentagon.  That is a domestic terrorist.  There’s no question there.”

As for those others “who would engage in harming innocent Americans or…ummm…facilities that it would be unacceptable…uh…I don’t know if you’re gonna use the word terrorist there but it’s unacceptable and it would not be condoned of course on our watch….but…I dunno if what you’re askin’ is if I regret referring to Bill Ayers as an unrepentant domestic terrorist I don’t regret characterizing him as that.”

When pressed to actually answer the question – who else, if anyone, fits in the category of domestic terrorist – Palin’s tone says much more than her words.
“I would put in that category with Bill Ayers anyone else who would seek to campaign to destroy our United States Capitol and our Pentagon and would seek to destroy innocent Americans.”

Parsing the words of Palin is generally pointless and often painful.  It commonly takes the form of a meaningless jumble of fluffy nothing, but not this time.  This time there is much to be gleaned from her stuttering imbecility.

In the view of Sarah Palin, in order to be a domestic terrorist you must “seek to campaign to destroy our United States Capitol AND our Pentagon AND seek to destroy innocent Americans.”

Merely “harming innocent Americans or…facilities that it would be unacceptable….I don’t know if you’re gonna use the word terrorist.”

One also notes the qualifying “innocent” fronting “Americans.”   Are all Americans innocent, or does Palin draw a distinction between innocent Americans and doctors who perform abortions?  It remains unclear, but her words raise the question.
What of the woman seeking to terminate a pregnancy resulting from rape or incest – are they innocent Americans or legitimate targets?  We know where the Alaskan governor stands on the relative innocence of the fetus.  The implication would seem to be that there are circumstances, in Palin’s opinion, where murder and bombing is permissible…just so long as you are not seeking to destroy the United States Capitol AND the Pentagon AND destroying “innocent” Americans.”
An interesting term – destroying.  Not killing.  Not murdering.  Destroying.  That word choice, alone, raises more questions (and more frightening questions) than it answers.

From DKos:

The anti-choice terrorists didn’t warn Dr. Barnett Slepian and Robert Sanderson (killed in 1998) or Dr. Jack Fainman  and another unnamed physician (wounded in 1997) or Dr. Hugh Short (wounded in 1995) or Dr. John Bayard Britton, James H. Barrett, Shannon Lowney and Leanne Nichols (killed in 1994) or Dr. Garson Romalis and five others (wounded in 1994) or Dr. David Gunn (killed in 1993) or Dr. George Tiller (wounded in 1993).

Nor did they give warnings in most of the more than 200 clinic bombings and arsons since 1993, the most recent an unsolved case in Albuquerque, N.M., in December 2007.

From Wikipedia:

Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. There is no internationally agreed definition of terrorism. Most common definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants. Some definitions also include acts of unlawful violence and war.

By any reasonable definition, abortion clinic bombers are terrorists.  Further, in view of the fact that the Weather Underground warned their targets of intended bombings – showing regard for safety of the people – they, at least on that narrow ground, do not meet the definition of terrorists.
None of that matters to Sarah Palin, for whom the confluence of her sky wizard inspired agreement with anyone who might seek to harm an abortion doctor (not a terrorist) and her desire to smear Barack Obama with spurious insults against anyone with whom he might have ever shaken hands (terrorists!) provides all the certainty she needs.

It becomes more and more difficult to identify the single most annoying element of Palin’s nomination, campaign and/or thinking.  She’s vapid, stupid, uneducated, inarticulate, flailing, desperate, impatient, condescending, exasperating, shallow, vicious, insuperably self-assured, blind to her inadequacy, willfully blind as regards inconvenient facts, insistent, banal, semi-literate, one-dimensional, myopic, thoughtless, incurious and exceedingly facile.  She will say anything in order to gain a step without bothering to examine the path or the destination.  She believes she is both qualified and deserving, and there could be no greater indictment of her pinhole perception than that.

There are those who expect Palin will wear a large potion of the blame for the destruction of the GOP come November 4th.  That having been exposed for what she is, she will slink back to Alaska where her political career will sputter out and die like a tossed cigarette butt in a downpour.  I’m one of those people.
There are other people who believe that Palin is a bright new light on the conservative horizon who, with four more years of national exposure and some grooming, will lead a resurgent GOP ticket in 2012.  I do not consider her bright by any means, but it would not disappoint me to see her nominated atop the ticket in 2012 if for no other reason than to finish the job she has well and truly begun – the total rejection of her brand of political non-thought and those who would attempt to wrap shit up in a bow and try to sell it.

Sarah Palin is an embarrassment to herself, her party, her country and the very idea of democracy.  It is perhaps, for her, a good thing that she is unaware of how utterly incompetent she is.  If she could see herself as she appears to thinking people, she’d never leave home again.

  1. Terrorism occurs INSIDE the abortion clinics.

Those that attack them are isolated individuals, outside the law.

Real terrorists are part of a massive network, and are a law unto themselves.

But for abortion, stop the terrorism INSIDE the clinics, where murder of the unborn takes place, and there will be no one outside that is complaining.

  2. @ Marianne

You do not understand the word terrorism.
Those that attack clinics are, by definition, terrorists. Sorry, fundie Jesus freak, but you don’t get to redefine words to suit your sky wizard foolishness.
Termination of pregnancy is fundamental RIGHT, requested by individual women (not a network) and performed by qualified medical practitioners (also not a network).

Concern yourself with the thousands of neglected children already suffering on this planet and stop worrying about clumps of cells, you arrogant cow.
“Murder” (by definition) is an UNLAWFUL killing. Even if we grant that life begins at conception, there is nothing UNLAWFUL about terminating a pregnancy. It is, therefore, not murder, no matter what you and your imaginary spirit power Jesus inspired idiocy choose to believe.

You god-freaks are annoying, which would be almost tolerable if you weren’t so circular and stupid as well.

  3. no one has the right to murder anyone else.

trash in this country made murder of the unborn legal….but the law is immoral…no human being is just a clump of cells.

trash also has decided it is ok to kill the baby AFTER it is born, in case of a failed abortion attempt.

  4. @ Marianne:
    Look…fundie moron…you’re becoming tiresome.
“Murder” is a legal term – it is not just some word that you can, like the Queen of Hearts, cause to mean whatever you intend it to mean. Murder = An UNLAWFUL killing.
Some exceptions with which you might be familiar: Self-defence, soldiers in war and accident, to name three.
Termination of pregnancy is not murder no matter what you, in your sky wizard Jebus delusional world, think.
Even IF we grant that a zygote is a human being; that a mass of cells – a CLUMP of genetic material – is a human life, terminating it IS NOT MURDER, and you only reveal yourself as stupid by claiming it is.
And, I might add, how very CHRISTIAN of you to refer to your fellow citizens as TRASH. Clearly, the words of Jesus have taken hold in your life. How sad that I, a pure atheist, know more about your messiah’s teachings than you do, and follow them more closely despite my total rejection of all gods.
The correlation of sheer imbecility and Christian faith continues to impress me – it would seem that the one requires the other, although it’s difficult to say which is the egg and which is the chicken.
Now keep your insulting, foolish, bastardization of scripture comments the fuck off my blog. You are being modded. Only comments that offer some semblance of reasonable thought and constructive contribution will be permitted. Your ignorant rants are no longer welcome.
Oh, and btw…God told me he thinks you’re a fucking disaster.

  5. The only things scarier than terrorists are fundies. If I could go back in time and punch one person in the face, it’s a toss up between Jesus or Moses for starting this whole mess.

  6. Well…them or your great great great great MMMM Good great Grandma….
Moses always said she was special.

  7. In that video clip, I think the only thing funnier than Palin attempting to produce coherent speech and valid arguments is watching McCain’s facial expressions as she does so. You can almost sense him thinking, “Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP you stupid bitch! Oh, for the love of God, why did I pick YOU as my running mate?!?!?” Or maybe I’m just imagining what I would be thinking in his position. Poor guy. I actually had some respect for his political judgment back in the day. No longer.

As for Marianne’s comments, I kind of hate to honor them with a response, but I’m curious, if you really want to claim that abortion is an act of terrorism, who is being terrorized? Are they trying to terrify fetuses? Of course not. So, again, don’t just throw words around for emotional appeal without any regard for what they actually mean. Unless you really want to follow Palin’s example.

  8. I always say the best atheists are the ones who cross over.
The pure sort, like me…who never had any faith to begin with…it’s almost a default position. The rejectors, despite having been once deluded, seem so much more potent in their conviction.
One of those odd “you WERE dumb enough before, so now we trust you more than those that called it right the first time” stranglets.
