Hillary Panders to Racists

Hillary Clinton supporters howled with delight at the results in the West Virginia primary – by any measure a landslide. They embraced HRC’s 40 point margin as proof that their candidate is the stronger; that Obama is unelectable. They are now more convinced than ever that their girl, and only their girl, is capable of leading the Democrats to victory against McCain in November. The numbers were dramatic, but as with all the other numbers they require some analysis.  What, one wonders, could have produced such a margin?
Was it Hillary’s appeal to her “working-class base”?

Quotes from interviews during exit polls are instructive:

  • “I guess because he is another race. I am sort of scared of the other race because we have so much conflict with them.”
  • “He’s Muslim, and y’know, that has alot to do with it.”
  • “I don’t like the Hussein thing. I’ve had enough of Hussein.”

White voters earning less than $50,000/year who have not completed college; blue-collar workers; working-class caucasian voters…the pundits found any number of ways to describe this narrow, uneducated gang of Appalachian trailer-dwelling mouth breathers, except the one that most accurately and succinctly defines them:  Racists.  Or, if you prefer something slightly wordier, IGNORANT racists.

He’s Muslim?  I’ve had enough of (and here I try to spell it the way she said it) HOO-sane?

If ever there were an argument for disallowing voting rights based on failure to meet some minimum standard of intelligence, the voters of West Virginia made it clear almost every time they opened their mouths.
Perhaps some of them have something approaching a reasonable preference for Hillary.  We didn’t hear from any of them.  What we did hear, over and over again, were unashamed displays of an ignorance that is truly shocking in depth, and pure, unadulterated racism.  And the Hillary supporters, including Hillary campaign chair Terry McAuliffe, gleefully toss their hands up in solidarity with these ignoramuses and crow that she’s still in the race.  They hold out THIS win as evidence that HRC has the support of The People, without whom no one can hope to win the White House.

They ought to be ashamed.  Ashamed of their candidate for pandering to such a mindset, after all how low can one sink?  It has reached the point where it would not be that much of a surprise to find Hillary campaigning door-to-door in a white robe and hood.

The ardent, die-hard Hillary clan objects loudly whenever someone accuses them of being racist when they assert they will not support Obama if he is the Democratic nominee.  Given the stated opinions and convictions so openly expressed by those with whom they stand, they ought not be surprised to be painted with that brush.  One either disavows and repudiates such garbage, or one supports it.  It is truly a case of allowing evil to prosper by standing idly by and doing nothing.  And that is the point the Hillary campaign has reached.  A truly shameful place, indeed.

If this is the path to the Oval Office, then America has abandoned any moral authority it ever had or thought it had.  Clearly, Hillary Clinton lacks any moral authority to lead, else she would never have played the race card in the craven, desperate manner she has.  One expects this kind of crap from the GOP – those fuckers parted company with anything approaching man’s better nature long ago, and so dramatically that even Clinton’s race-baiting bullshit seems almost tame by comparison.  Nevertheless, one hopes that there is a way to lead that does not require pandering to people too stupid to KNOW that Barack Obama is not a Muslim and that his middle name does not make him Saddam’s cousin.

I cannot imagine the means yet to be employed, or the circumstances under which Hillary – losing by every possible measure and 20 million dollars in debt – might gain the nomination.  Speaking hypothetically, though, were she to win the Democratic banner, I have one question: Would the means she has employed cause Hillary to feel even a little bit ashamed of herself?
The answer to that question doesn’t matter.  Either she would feel shame, in which case she has abandoned her better nature in a craven grasp at power and is therefore unfit to lead, or she would not feel shame, in which case she lacks the moral strength and insight to lead.
It has gone beyond damaging the party’s chances against McCain.  Hillary Clinton is now willing to destroy whatever notion we might have had that she is a decent, hard-working woman with the best interests of her country at heart.  She is not.  She is, as the evidence clearly demonstrates, perfectly willing to sell her soul to the very worst and most ignorant thinking in order to win…win…win at any cost.  And if that means kissing the unwashed Appalachian ass of people who toss the world nigger around as easily as breathing, then she ought to be run out of this race, run out of the Senate and run right the fuck out of America.

  1. Hi there,

I looked over your blog and it looks really good. Do you ever do link exchanges on your blog roll? If you do, I’d like to exchange links with you.

Let me know if you’re interested.

  2. I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you down the road!

  3. I don’t want Hillary run out of America. With my damned luck, she’ll end up infesting one of the places I plan to bolt to if McCain wins in November.

To think I once respected this woman… it makes me want to scrub my brain with an industrial sander.

  4. I know what you mean. I used to spend breath defending Bill and long suspected (and respected) that Hillary was the brains behind his limitless charm.
Now they have revealed themselves and crushed whatever warmth or tolerance I ever had for either of them. Pandering, lying, desperate, craven, Machiavellian, race-baiting bastards. The sooner they drag themselves off into a quiet, STFU future, the better for everyone.
