Billy Cobham – Spectrum (1973)

This monster fusion recording, featuring perhaps and arguably the greatest drummer of all time and Tommy Bolin, is one of the most mind-blowing things ever laid down.

It’s not only ahead of its time, it’s still better than almost anything you can cue up.

If you haven’t heard it, get it.

If you have, can I get an AMEN?

  1. Quadrant Four is a simply amazing piece of Jazz Rock Fusion, Tommy exploding off the track, and so young, too!! But this era was the time of the great Cobham-Alphonse Mouzon Rivalry, and you simply have to check out Alphonse Mouzons Mind Transplant albun on Blue Note (Now featuring an extended jam) guitarists on this album are Lee Ritenour, Tommy Bolin, and Jay Graydon, with Jerry Peters from E, W and F on keys, now is that top drawer, or what??!!
